An Rp between :iconshadowmagpie:'s Howl and :iconselenethewerewolf:'s Bloom

:iconselenethewerewolf:

Chills vibrated through the red wolf's body. The sky was dark with grey clouds that almost looked black. The wind was harsh as it blew down the mountains that surrounded the valley. Small flurries of snow began to fall from the sky. New scents and sounds were all around the young wolf as she passed through an unknown forest. The musky smell of male wolves made her wrinkle her maw and her fur stand on end. Obviously she was close to a pack and she stopped a few meters from their border.

Another harsh wind blew down from the mountains that raised to her east side. Her reddish fur stood out like a bright target in the white winter land. Everything was new to her, she had no idea where to go.. The fear of being attacked by a strange wolf choked off her howl of loneliness, but if any wolf was pacing the border of the territory in front of her, she'd no doubt be spotted.

:iconshadowmagpie:

The night was far too cold and breezy for Howl to sleep, even when the males huddled together, it was no comfort and held little for Howl. He had tried in vain several times to just curl up and drop off... but there was no use. There was nothing that could help him... even the herbs his mother used to give him as a pup to help him... only left sad memories and a bad taste in his mouth. With a reluctant sigh, he stood and padded away, the strong breeze blowing his fur to one side, causing the male to shiver violently. His pace quickened naturally, trying to warm himself through movement, his head low as he headed to a small clearing that he now resided as his quiet space.

The male grit his teeth as he trotted on, the air getting sharper, making his toes feel numb in the snow, a small whine escaping him. He decided to take the border route, at least putting himself to some used before he tried to rest again. At this rate he would NEVER be up in the morning. His gaze now fell to the floor, the freezing wolf picking his way slower through the undergrowth. He glanced up to make sure he was still near the edge, when a figure caught his attention, and he quickly stepped behind the bare thicket, his fur blending nicely for the moment. He found it so strange that the figure was out in the open, just... standing there. He peered round more, ready to confront the stranger, when something made his heart freeze. He noticed the fur pattern, the colours... For a fleeting moment he thought it could have been.... Bloom? No.... it couldn't be her. She was with her mother back at....well... that place.

He blinked and shook his head, heart rate increasing, finally her scent drifting over. Was it? Was it really? Yes... It had to be! His eyes widened as he stumbled from his hiding spot, slipping slightly in the snow as he could barely beleive it, staring to the female that stood several meters ahead.

"B-BLOOM?!" He barked, his chest rising and falling hard as he began to get excited. It had to be... It was!! "BLOOM!" He called to her again, suddenly running top speed, as fast as his legs could carry him, tongue hanging as he rushed toward her, finally leaping at her, sending them tumbling over, rolling over and over again.

:iconselenethewerewolf:

The wind bit into her, making her shiver. Even with her winter coat, she was far from warm. The mountains gave the wind a new bitter cold. There was no one out here. Not even the deer could be scented on the open valley. They probably sought shelter in the taller pines further north, possibly even in the territory she stood in front of. It was no choice that she'd seek after food in this weather. It could always wait til morning.

Turning away to seek shelter in the barren oaks, she paused hearing steps in the snow. The crunch of the snow grabbed her attention and she turned to face the noise. It was from inside the territory. Ears pressed forward, she scented the frigid air. A scent. It was faintly familiar. However, the loads of new scents of the males and other creatures, she couldn't be sure. The movement ahead, made her take a step backward. Something was moving toward her. Then, she heard the cry.

"BLOOM!" Her name was called in this strange place? Yet, the voice was familiar. Moss green eyes looked up just as a light brown wolf burst from the brush of the territory and tackled her into the snow. The overwhelming scent of her lost friend hit her like elk kick. It was Howl!

Tumbling in the snow, she whined happily. Staggering to her feet, she tumbled over Howl, grabbing his ears and neck in playful love bites. Whining she rubbed her head beneath his chin, then rubbed her body against his. It was Howl! Somehow he came to this place and she'd found him. Tears burned her eyes and froze on her face before they could fall. She didn't care though, she found him! Or, well, he found her.

:iconshadowmagpie:

He heard her whines and rolled over constantly, his tail wagging hard as he tried to get to his feet, though he was scrambling about on the floor, and couldn't stand up as of yet. His heart pounded as he nipped her back, pushing his muzzle into her fur and taking in her scent once again, yipping quietly as they seemed to tumble about. He put his front legs over her shoulders, holding her close as he finally sat up, his tail thumping hard against the floor. He let out grumbles and whines himself, unable to believe it. He finally let her go, sitting upright, but nuzzling her face gently, his expression joyous.

"I... I can't believe it's you! I didn't think I would ever see you again... I... I'm so happy you're here...." He whined to her, licking her face gently, constantly giving her affection. He couldn't have felt happier.... she had come to him... out of everywhere in the world... she had come to him. "What... what are you doing here? It's miles away from... well...." He drifted off, looking away sheepishly. He hadn't had much to do with their old pack, but he suspected something bad had happened... especially if she was here without her mother.

He looked around wildly for a moment, the cold setting in once again, causing him to panic a little. He didn't want her to freeze... He knew that she wouldn't be able to come into the territory.... but he wouldn't be missed if he left for a while. "I know where there's a hidden den... come on, it'll keep you warm" He nosed her now, keeping her close as he walked the short distance away, pushing aside the branches that covered it. He stepped aside to let her in, giving her a wide smile.

:iconselenethewerewolf:

Bloom never thought she'd feel the overwhelming joy that flooded her chest ever again. He'd left so many seasons ago, though a tiny part of her wondered why he never came back, it was squashed by how happy she was to see him, and how happy he was to see her. He had not forgotten her. When they finally stopped greeting each other, the cold re-entered her body. She remembered how cold it was.

Following closely beside Howl as he lead to a den he knew about. Unable to stay too far away from Howl, she kept her side brushing against his. This felt like home. Not, that other pack she left, even though they welcomed her and she made friends.. Being with Howl again made her feel complete.

When he pushed back the brambles that shielded the den from any wandering eyes she crawled inside. It was warmer almost immediately, everything seemed warmer below ground even with the falling snow on top of the den. Luckily the den looked to be big enough for two wolves. Her eyes raised to meet his, "Coming in? We've got loads to talk about."

:iconshadowmagpie:

He loved the feeling of her next to him, finally, again. It had been so long... they had only been small juveniles last they had seen each other... before Howl left. He had always wanted to come back... and she was never really far from his thoughts. Through everything... he had always known he wanted to go back to find her... to take her away. Though now, she was here, and he was with her, and that's all that mattered. He met her eyes and couldn't help but smile constantly, happiness filling him. He moved inside after her, turning round above her, curling his tail up to allow himself more room as he stood.

It took him a few moments to lay down next to her, nestling closer to her, keeping his head lifted so she could get comfortable, his tail wagging lightly still, unable to believe it. He finally sighed happily, looking down at her with a grin that didn't seem to end.

"I'm so happy to see you again Bloom... I really am.... so... what happened? How did you get here?" He asked eagerly, her eyes searching hers for answers. He worried about those he left behind, that much was true, though he knew he couldn't return... He felt almost fearful to learn the fate of everyone, but he had to know... He had to know why she was alone.

:iconshadowmagpie:

Warmth quickly warmed the den and Bloom felt safe as Howl curled up beside her. With a gentle nuzzle and lick across his neck fur, she raised her head as he questioned her. Chewing softly on her lip, studying his face silently. In his eyes was the same familiar love and warmth she felt for him when they were younger. Even as juveniles, they knew how much they cared for one another.

"Well,..a lot happened. Blutwald was disbanded after a war." She paused for the moment, debating whether or not to tell him it was her fault. "A famine had hit the pack hard, Mom had another pup as well as another female. So many little mouths to feed in the dead of Winter. I caught by a neighboring pack for taking down a buck in their territory. In the Spring, mom came after the pack to get me back. She was injured and also left home. I was taken in by the pack that had held me captive for seasons, but I never felt at home. My thoughts had returned to you, wondering where you'd run off to. Since,..you hadn't come to me I wanted to search for you." Burying her face in Howl's neck fur, she shuddered, inhaling his scent, "And now, we found each other."

:iconshadowmagpie:

He felt horror and guilt at her words, his eyes dropping to the floor as she talked about the war.... so Blutwald was no more.... He looked up a little, looking outside the den as he contemplated what could have happened to his family. He felt guilt at having left... was that the best choice? He closed his eyes a moment, though opened them again when she nuzzled him, putting his head on top of her neck, holding her close as he shifted.

"I... I'm sorry... I had no idea..." He whispered to her, his ears pinned. "I honestly thought... things would be ok... I can't believe it's gone though... it was once a... a powerful pack that no one crossed and...." He trailed off here, whining a little. "I'm so glad your safe.... I don't know what I would have done should I have heard that something terrible happened.... I'm sorry I left... I tried to come back... I had left... to try and find my aunt... I never knew why she hadn't come back and... well my mother didn't know. I still can't believe she left..." He sighed, rumbling slightly in his chest.

"I... I wanted to take you away from everything... You should never have been exposed to that... I should have been there" He told her gently, his voice holding regret. "I'm sorry.... I lost my way. I couldn't find my way back... I didn't know how... But you never left my thoughts" He promised her, burying his muzzle into her neck fur. "What happened to my father? Do you know?" He asked gently, his tail shifting a little.

:iconselenethewerewolf:

Seeing the horror in his eyes, made her fidget. She had not wanted to burden him with the news. She knew he'd blame himself, "Things happen sometimes..that are beyond our control.." She told him as he rested his head on top of her neck. Closing her eyes she inhaled slowly, then reopened her eyes.

He wanted to come back to her, that's all that mattered. And now, they were together. When he asked about his Father, she tilted her head. "He joined another pack. After the war he joined the pack Blutwald was in war with. It's not a bad pack, they are really kind. Just..things had gotten out of paw when the battle began." Resting her head on top of his paw, she gently licked his front legs comfortingly.

"Well, now..lets not talk about the past right now. We're with each other now. So, tell me about your new pack?" She asked, wanting to get her thoughts off the place she left behind.

:iconshadowmagpie:

Despite the fact that he still felt terrible for leaving, what she said held a strange comfort... she was right. Things did happen... and it seemed inevitable that Blutwald would have gone into war. He nodded gently after hearing that his father was at least ok... though his mother he knew was gone, no traces to be found. He widened his eyes a little and nodded quickly, agreeing with her last statement. "Oh, yes of course... sorry" He gave her a sheepish grin, though rubbed his head on her, still trying to reacquaint himself to her scent. It had been so long.... and he still couldn't believe it... It was like he was in his own little bubble, now finally burst with her arrival, and he was experiencing things for the first time... the scents, the sounds... they were all different now.

"My... my pack yes... Well I've not actually met everyone yet, though it's a smaller in size than the others around here... The Alpha, he's nice.... he helped me with hunting when I first got here. I was pretty bad at taking down bigger prey. The guys here are... well they're nice. There's a balance here that I like" He told her, a small smile on his muzzle. A cold breeze blew outside and he shivered slightly. He curled round her a little more, his heart rate returning somewhat to normal now as he began to relish in the moment.

"I think... Well this is a nice area.... I have met a few of the rogues that wander round here, though..." He paused, unsure of how to continue. "There's one or two I've seen that... quite frankly worry me" He told her honestly, sighing. "I don't know what danger they represent to the pack... but the rogues round here seem to hate pack life... I don't understand it" He finished, chewing gently on her ear now.

:iconselenethewerewolf:

Finally, all her worries had evaporated. No longer did she worry about the mess she made for her pack. No worries about the wolf that caused her scars. She was finally at peace. Burying her face in Howl's neck, she whined happily, licking and biting playfully on his chin. Outside the snow was falling faster and some flakes were blown inside, making them both shiver the same time, but they only cuddled closer together.

Their paws were entwined with each other and no longer could they tell where one body ended and the other began. His words gave her a slight worry. Rogues that hated pack life. "That is strange. If they hate pack life, why even bother the packs.." she murmured. Since she was a Rogue, maybe she could find these wolves that hated pack life and get information on them.. Find out why. "When I arrived at the border, I smelt a lot of male wolves. I'm guessing this is a sort of bachelor pack?" She suggested, with a shrug. It kind of damped her ideas of joining Howl's pack.

There was no rush though. They'd finally found each other and she'd always be close to him. She would have to be careful though to not act like she was waiting for someone if she were caught another wolf other than Howl from this pack. "Maybe one day I could meet your alpha.." She said thoughtfully as he chewed on her ear. She smirked playfully and began to bite his paws.

:iconshadowmagpie:

At her nipping and biting, he let out a playful growl, nipping back at her neck fur, then whipping his head to underneath her head and nipping there aswell, repeating this process several times as he played around. He finally felt complete with Bloom beside him, he felt stronger, more capable, less nervous.... He looked at her for a moment as he contemplated that thought... his anxiety had gone... He gave a gentle smiled as he realized it must have been her... must have been Bloom that made him confident all the time ago... gave him purpose. He still remembered their first meeting with a fond expression, before giving a gentle chuckle.

"Do you remember, when we were pups, other mothers would meet, and you would come and beat me up?" He laughed, his tail wagging once again. He placed his head on her paws, his tail curling with hers as he took in her warmth and scent. "I'm not sure why they would... but some hunt inside the grounds, maybe they like the thrill, or hate the fact that we seem to have a sense of entitlement... I don't know, my own rogue life wasn't great. I wanted to belong in a pack" He sighed now, his eyes roving the den until it met with hers. He let a small grin form, lifting his head to lick at her forehead now, a light chuckle in his throat.

"Yes... It's an all male pack... but don't worry... this can be our den... I'll come see you when i can... And when I'm not helping out the pack, I'll come find you" He promised, moving his right paw to cover hers. "I think I could bring him to the border... He's nice so I'm sure he'd be fine meeting you" He nodded, resting his muzzle on her paws again.

:iconselenethewerewolf:

They wrestled in the den for quite sometime. Rekindling their relationship that had been gone for many seasons. It was almost they had never been apart. Bloom rolled partially to her side, so she could throw a paw over his neck and hold him close to her as she licked his face, rolling her tongue over his muzzle. When he mentioned when they met as pups, she smirked and put a paw over his muzzle. Her moss green eyes shined brightly. "Yes, I remember. The two of them were always so close, so it was no doubt we'd close as well." Her tail wagged as twined with his. It was almost like it was bond to happen. When he said she'd beat him up, she stuck her bottom lip out, "Hey, I was only trying to toughen you up! You were so skittish. You aren't anymore." She teased, playfully biting his muzzle.

It lightened her heart when he said his alpha was nice. Perhaps he'd be understanding of the two of them being together. Smiling, she closed her eyes for a brief time, everything had fallen in place so quickly. She felt so complete with Howl at her side. "Its a great den. Hidden from sight. I'll work on making it a tad bit bigger." She said, glancing around the den.

:iconshadowmagpie:

He pretended to bat at her as she rolled, beginning to play fight and block her vision from seeing where to put her paws, though allowed her to lick at his muzzle. He grinned some more as he then flailed his back paws a moment, getting to his feet and standing over her to wrestle some more, half pinning her and pulling at one of her ears gently. His tail wagged as he looked down at her tenderly, a lopsided grin on his muzzle. "Toughen me up? I'll have you know that I am the fiercest wolf around! No one stops me!" He laughed, opening his mouth and pretending biting her muzzle, shaking it gently.

"Well... I'm still skittish... I get anxiety a lot too... I just can't seem to stop worrying... I get sleepless nights and when I do sleep... it's patchy and... not peaceful" He admitted sadly, looking away for a moment, though looked to her again. "Even though we've literally just met again.. It feels as though that's slipping away... my anxiety and worries I mean... I've never felt this calm in ages... or happy" He told her honestly, his grin back. He lay back down in his original spot, rubbing his head on her shoulder, though in the process, he rolled over himself, so his paws were in the air. "I think you could make it rather homely in here... And we'll know just how to make it smell to, considering both our backgrounds in herbs" He winked, wagging his tail.

:iconselenethewerewolf:

For a brief and a too fleeting moment to be caught; maybe, when Howl stood over her fear lit up her eyes. Shutting her eyes and took a deep breath. This isn't a real fight...he's not Rhaegan, she thought to herself and opened her eyes just as his muzzle came down over her's.

When he mentioned sleepless nights, she licked his cheek warmly. Since she'd known him he'd always been a bit skittish and worried a lot. But, when they were together he was fiercely loyal and protective. He still worried about her, since she was notorious for getting into trouble.

"I can see that. You've always become happy and relaxed when we were together." Tucking her head beneath his chin. When he rolled over beside her on, she crawled half on top of him and began to groom his face. "Yeah, lots herbs would also hide our scents together. Until your alpha at least know I'm here. Plus, it might keep the Rogues from investigating. Maybe I'll plant some brambles around too.." She said thoughtfully, gently pulling his ear in retaliation.

:iconshadowmagpie:

"Well, naturally... I didn't like the bigger wolves in the pack. Though we were both 'momma's pups' so, it was inevitable that I would get attached to you, do you not think?" He asked, his tail rubbing in the dust a little as she groomed him. He closed his eyes and thought for a few moments, letting the emotions run through him, still trying to recover from the initial surprise. He opened his eyes at her mention of how to deter the rogues, and he nodded enthusiastically. "That seems like a good idea... though might need to make sure that there's enough room for us to squeeze in still... some wolves hate the smell of mint, so perhaps we can use that too?" He suggested, thinking to his own mothers tactics.

He thought hard in his head about how to bring up the subject of Bloom to Isaiah, hoping he'd take to the idea well... he knew the reason behind the male pack, so he knew Bloom couldn't join... but he wished to spend his life with her too, so perhaps his alpha would understand. He let out a sigh, resting his head back, his front paws resting around her neck. "I think it'll be best for you to keep more around here whilst it's still winter... the environment around here is unpredictable, but if you stick around the den, then you'll at least have a warm place to stay. Not too many rogues pass through here... not that you'd have any concern of at least" He mentioned, his tail shifting.

"Will you be okay when I'm not around?" He asked with concern.

:iconselenethewerewolf:

Although, she wasn't going to find brambles in the middle of winter. Really, she wouldn't find any types of herbs til Spring. Until Spring, she'd have to be careful where she traversed, she would not want to run into any ill-tempered wolves. The last thing she needed was to attract the attention of some brute. Then, she'd have nowhere to go. Resting her head on his chest as his paws wrapped around her neck.

"Yeah, I was planning sticking around here.. Don't want to attract any unwanted attention." She told him, nipping gently on his chin. "I'll be fine. I won't get into trouble." She promised, giving him big green puppy eyes.

:iconshadowmagpie:

He smiled again, relaxing more at the mention that she would stay low for now. It was just as well that it was bitter out, no one would really come venturing out at this point. He let his eyes shut for a few more moments, just letting himself relax once again. He could feel that the previous issues of a sleepless night seemed to be leaving, drowsiness taking over his mind as he tried to think on. It was so late... he hadn't realized just how bad his sleeping problem was. But now, with her with him... he could finally feel a sense of normality, of familiarity. He rolled to his stomach, looking tiredly to her, though a small smile on his muzzle.

"I think you should rest... It looks like you've been traveling a while. In the morning I can show you where to go to get the best prey... It's hard to spot under the snow but... You'll get the hang of it" He nuzzled her gently, pressing his face into hers. "I'll be here with you tonight... I don't want to leave you here..." He said to her gently, licking her forehead again.

:iconselenethewerewolf:

From all the excitement the excitement, Bloom hadn't really realized how late it was. She had traveled far and for a time she couldn't place. With a yawn, she stretched forelegs as Howl rolled over to his belly. With a smile, she slid from his back and nuzzled against his body. Tucking her head against his, she licked his cheek softly. "Thanks," she whispered in a tired voice.

"I'm glad we found each other again." She whispered in his ear and remained cuddled against him. She knew her nightmares would not return tonight.
